Checking the home assignment: We have finished a topic «transcription signs»
and students were supposed to transcribe the text teacher gave them. Teacher
receives papers with home tasks. Also they had to write 10 sentences using
sounds ð and θ. Teacher proposes check them one by one.

1. Introduction of the new topic:
The teacher explains the difference between
progressive, regressive and reciprocal assimilation providing examples.
2. Students listen
to the recording (1 minute) and than write down the text. They make a transcription
of this short text and mark in what words the assimilation is.
3. Now students
make up dialogs in pairs and give dialogs to neighbors. They will find words
with assimilation.
4. Closing and home-task.
The home task is to
write down the dialog from the recording I’ll send students and make a
transcription. Then students find out where the assimilation is. I’ll give them
the list of the words. What kind of assimilation is used there?
Very nice class! I like the way you introduce the warm-up activity. And in general, it's very good that you use a lot of recordings and videos during the lesson. I guess, English phonetics should always procede just like this!
ОтветитьУдалитьto my mind you have chosen essential material for teaching phonetics. Nicely done structure of the lesson keeps things being logic. That is quite important. Will students need to make a transcription of the dialog in your blog or to bring it to the next class?
ОтветитьУдалитьThe lesson is well-structured. Like the task with dialogue and tasks with videos. In phonetic the usage of audio and video files is very important!
